Primeast has been hosting the Yorkshire Talent Forum since 2007. At each forum, a "people leader" takes to the "hot seat" to describe their recent successes and ongoing challenge in the field of talent management. They receive powerful questions and observations from other participants that move them to a place of action.
At our May 2012 Talent Forum we are pleased to welcome Nick Middleton from Head Resourcing, a successful recruitment consultancy with particular specialism in IT and business change recruitment.
Day to day Nick sees that the vast majority of recruitment decisions are still based on the past experience of a candidate (it usually boils down to whether they have specifically fulfilled the same role within a competitor’s organisation). With the pressure of a highly competitive market he finds that recruitment consultancies are often conforming to their client’s ‘pigeon holing’ ways! Nick’s aim is to break this mould and apply more of a strengths based philosophy. The steps to adopting this model are not clear, particularly for specialist roles common within IT, but he hopes he can call upon the expertise in the room to help guide him on this journey.
As ever the forum will nudge Nick to the action he needs to take in order to bring this significant added value to his clients.
Chatham House Rules
By necessity, Talent Forum members agree to be bound by Chatham House rules enabling all members to share challenges and practices in the confidence they will not be repeated beyond the forum.
Participation
Talent Forum is for business leaders and corporate HR and talent directors and managers. Places are limited to twelve participants.
Comment by Nick Middleton on May 10, 2012 at 9:41 What a fantastic opportunity being in the hot seat was, thank you Clive and team. The collective knowledge and experience of the panel was astounding and the opportunity to seek their council was invaluable. I left the event with a clear picture of what the next actions I need to take are along with many more ideas to ponder that I would have never thought of without the input of others on the day. A great format of a very well facilitated event that I would recommend anyone with a talent challenge to take part in!!
